Challenge
Chicago Public Schools (CPS) is one of the largest public sector customers of Oracle ERP, custom applications, and databases. The school system has several databases, Oracle E-Business Suite, PeopleSoft HR, SQL server-based Student Management System, combined with several custom applications built in-house using Java, OAF, .NET and Perl. CPS required talented DBAs and Administrators that could handle projects such as applications upgrades and support.
Solution
Krasan Consulting DBA services have supported CPS over many years including basics like from database tuning to upgrading servers, and applications as well as supporting development work throughout the enterprise application suite. A recent initiative included upgrading the foundation for Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Applications and Data Repositories to high performing specialty Engineered systems in Exadata and Exalytics. Our consultants also Designed Enterprise-wide strategy to move into Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
Krasan Consulting’s Application Developers also worked on building Java Based applications using Oracle ADF, JavaScript, Oracle Applications Framework applications, that integrated with Oracle EBS, Hyperion and other systems. Our Oracle PeopleSoft Project Manager, Business Analyst, PeopleSoft Technical resources are also engaged to support and enhance PeopleSoft applications. Our Oracle Business Analysts have supported the Oracle E-Business Suite Implementation.
Outcome
Our DBA services have kept CPS databases operating consistently, the Exadata implementation in particular resulted in a significant improvement in performance, reducing for example the turnaround time of complex reports from 15 minutes to 2 minutes. Separately our consultants are providing ongoing support of the CPS Oracle and Peoplesoft applications.
