Challenge
Digital Transformation: The Chicago Park District (CPD) did not have a robust platform to collect, report, and analyze all its financial and business drivers. The CPD goal was to improve Finance efficiency, accuracy, and analytical capabilities by eliminating manual processes and spreadsheet-based tools.
Solution
Krasan Consulting developed a Strategic plan and a roadmap to eliminate spreadsheets and conducted business process reengineering to automate workflow and reporting, causing an increase in transparency and accuracy. This automation was achieved by implementing Oracle Hyperion Public Sector Planning and Budgeting, Configured Position Based Budgeting, Integrated with Oracle EBS-GL with a 2-way integration and Integrated OBIEE and Essbase for Position reporting using Extract, Load, and Transform using Oracle Data Integrator, and transformed the data from a Multi-Dimensional Format to a Relational Database Model for essential position-based reports.
Outcome
Once the Digital transformation implementation was complete, the CPD received a set of recommendations on how to do position management in Oracle E-Business Suite Human Capital Management.
At the completion of the project the CPD team also received:
- A fully implemented Budgeting system with an Electronic Budget Book.
- Position Based Reporting.
- Automated inputs for non-labor-related budget requests.
- Ease of use with customized user forms for data entry.
- Automated integration with their Oracle General Ledger system to bring in monthly, quarterly, and yearly Actuals.
- A complete set of training manuals for onboarding new users to the system and the required system documentation.
- Oracle Business Intelligence (OBIEE) implemented reporting for Budget data, especially position-based budgeting.
